The play, once a two-part, four-act, six-hour long marathon, has been condensed into a manageable two-act, 2+ hour production. Each scene, though shortened, now reads more like a movie, with 42 very short scenes in over a dozen different locations. With over 30 different speaking roles and already established iconic characters, this production is a dream come true for the high school stage.

The plot centers around Albus Severus Potter, the son and middle child of Harry Potter & Ginny Weasley, both in their mid-thirties, and Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco and Astoria Malfoy, who is rumored to be the secret son of Voldemort. Like many middle children, Albus feels out of place and awkward. He craves his father’s attention, love, and approval. Albus has been told his whole life how wonderful Hogwarts is, but when he gets there, nothing goes right. He gets sorted into Slytherin, he can’t ride a broom like his father, his magic rarely works the way it should, and everyone laughs at him because he is nothing like Harry Potter. Albus meets Scorpius on the train and instantly connects. They both have father-son issues, and people stare and whisper at both of them. In Albus’ angst, he learns of a way to bring back Cedric Diggory and right one of his father’s many wrongs while proving to himself and Harry that he is a true Potter. With the help of his best (and only) friend, Scorpius, the two try to change the past and bring back Cedric. However, as is the way with Albus and Scorpius, they fail at every turn, making everything infinitely worse, bringing back Voldemort and disappearing their relatives. However, when things become a literal nightmare, they reach out for help, and Harry, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, Draco, and Snape (yes that Snape) come together to save their kids and save the world while they’re at it.
